I was born and raised in Japan.  It is the land of contradiction, old and new, zen and brand-new trends all mixed up.  I haven't lived there for a long time, and I no longer consider it my "home."  Yet, I stubbornly hold onto my Japanese citizenship, and am proud of my heritage.   It is always an interesting place to visit, and yes, I love my country.

At Asakusa Sanjamaturi (Tokyo)

Sanja Matsuri in Asakusa is one of the biggest festival in Tokyo.  Here, you will have a chance to encounter traditional Japanese festival.  Be forewarned.. it is always super crowded.  That's the part of fun though.

Okinawa is absolutely gorgeous, and they have their own culture.  It is a country within a country.  I would love to visit Okinawa again......

Yushima Jingu, Tokyo

Yushima Jingu is shrine for "study."  If you would like to be successful at school, come pray here.  Even if you aren't praying, Yushima area holds old Japanese town atmosphere, and one of my favorite places in Tokyo.

Kamakura, Kanagawa

Kamakura was once a capital of Japan.  It has many shrines and temples, and full of traditional charm.  It is an easy day trip from Tokyo,  a whole lot closer than Kyoto.   I think every time I go back to Japan, I stop by here.

Kobe

Kobe is a place I wouldn't mind living if I were to live there... It has beautiful oceanviews from high hills, great food, and a wonderful community.  Its recovery from the tragic earthquake has been amazing.  Great place to be.
